Feature Walls are our favorite. But what are they exactly?
A Feature Wall can take many forms. Many incorporate company logos or mission statements. Some are small and others are large. Some repeat on every floor of a company’s occupancy space while some only reside in one spot. If a company manufactures a product, the Feature Wall may incorporate that product, or be a representation of it. They can be aesthetic like art or serve a function such as wayfinding. (Refer back to our previous post for Reasons to Incorporate a Feature Wall Into Your Space.) The common thread amongst all of them is that they are intended to stand out and they consist of more than studs and drywall.
Common materials found in a Feature Wall include hardwood, wood veneer, stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum, glass, stone, leather, upholstery, lighting and more. We are uniquely skilled for these projects as we have expertise in the interaction of many different materials and how they work together. For example, wood has a good bit of movement during its lifetime while harder surfaces like metal or stone do not. It’s important to understand both and accommodate their needs in the design to ensure longevity and precision. This is what we do!
